First time at the IndieGameBusiness Conference or do you need a quick refresher? Check out our helpful tips and reminders below.
How and when do I get access to the MeetToMatch platform?
You should receive an email directly from MeetToMatch within a few hours of getting your ticket from EventBrite. Your login information will be included in that email.
What should I do first when I access the platform?
Your first step is to complete your personal and company profile. Complete both these sections as completely as possible as it will greatly increase your probability of having great meetings. When it comes to ticking the boxes that define the work your company does, resist the urge to check them all off to “increase your visibility”. This will have the opposite effect. Companies that list everything as their expertise are the first ones to be skipped over when professionals are setting their meetings.
Next you need to add your game, project, or product to the showcase section of the platform. The link to do this is found at the bottom of the page you used to complete your profile. Completing both your profile and project page will give you a huge boost to incoming meeting requests.
How do I know who to meet with?
Using the “Advanced Search” options are always the best way to find your meetings. The basic search is fine but to really nail it down you should use all the filters you’ll find in the advanced section. Once you do this, read through all the entries and “favorite” the people you’d like to meet with on a first pass before you send invites. This will help you triage your meetings instead of sending invites immediately and then running out of meeting slots before you finish your list.
What is the best way to reach out?
Understand who you’re meeting with and READ their profile. A good profile will outline exactly what they are looking for and what they don’t want to see. Pay attention to this and customize your outreach accordingly. Don’t spam meeting invitations to people who openly state they aren’t interested in your type of game or product. It will reflect poorly on you and the company you represent.
What should be in meeting invites?
Don’t send empty or generic meeting invitations. Always clearly state why you’d like a meeting with the person. It’s always a good idea to include alternate contact details such as your email address or a link to your calendar in the event the person would like to speak to you but the timing of the meeting isn’t ideal.
What should I do after the event?
Always outline next steps during your meeting and make sure you follow up in the week after the conference. This will keep you top of mind with the person you’re meeting and ensure no traction is lost after the event.
